January's speaker will be Benjamin W. Sebree of the Sebree Law Firm PLLC in Austin, whose presentation is titled, "The Geothermal Energy Revolution: What's Next? Plus: Who Owns the Heat?" Ben Sebree is an attorney and well-known governmental relations practitioner. Having served as Vice-President and General Counsel for the Texas Oil and Gas Association, having been appointed by Governor Perry to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, having been elected to the Governing Council of the Oil, Gas and Energy Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and possessing a long and effective career in Austin, Sebree's legal and governmental expertise is well-recognized. Ben represents numerous clients before the Texas Legislature, the Railroad Commission of Texas, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Comptroller of Public Accounts, the General Land Office, the Public Utility Commission, and various other agencies, manages an energy and natural resources practice, and consults with governmental officials and businesses both in Texas as well as nationally. Mr. Sebree represents several Fortune 100 companies, including clients in the upstream, mid-stream, and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry, water recycling clients, geothermal clients, several leading trade associations, large land and mineral owners, various elected officials, and other clients. Legislative and regulatory representation include issues regarding energy policy, geothermal, oil and gas, water law and regulation, environmental matters, state and local taxation, tax incentives, pipelines, refining and marketing, economic development, conservation, land use and management, eminent domain, and transportation. February 2025 APLA Lunch

Our next in-person lunch meeting will be Friday, February 14 at 11:30AM at the Enverus Campus, located on the first floor of Building 6, 2901 Via Fortuna, Austin, TX 78746. Our friend, Alan H. Morgan, CPL, will present, "Where Are They Now?", and wants us to know he can find any missing person we can bring. Alan was born in Dayton, Ohio and raised in Dallas. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Government in December 1975 and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Petroleum Land Management in December 1977. Alan began his career as a Landman with Texaco Inc. and subsequently worked as a Landman and in management positions for Border Exploration Company, Mesa Petroleum Co., International Oil & Gas Corporation, Access Exploration Corp. and Remora Oil Company. Alan has served as an adjunct professor in the Petroleum Land Management Program at the University of Houston-Downtown. He served in numerous positions in the Houston Association of Professional Landmen, including President, 1990-1991 and was recognized as the 1988 HAPL Outstanding Landman, 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award and 2020 Senior Landman. Alan also served the American Association of Professional Landmen as Second Vice President, Director and Chairman of the Publications, Tax Issues, Annual Meeting, Education, Membership and Ad Hoc Computer Committees. Alan was recognized by AAPL with the 1989 Education Award, 1994 Special Award, 2001 Landman of the Year, 2013 Distinguished Service Award and 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award.  In addition, Alan was recognized as one of the 2013 Texas Top 15 Landmen by Texas Monthly and TIPRO. Alan is a Distinguished Member of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in America and Strathmore’s Who’s Who. He is a Texas Real Estate Broker and poker player and last, but not least, grandfather. Alan and his wife, Betsy, have three children, Bonnie, Cara and Jeremy and five grandchildren, Matthew, Mason, Ethan, Eliana and Maya.   REGISTER HERE!!

Our speaker is Ms. Jenae Allert of The Title Law Group, PLLC, in Oklahoma City. Ms. Allert's presentation is entitled, "Playing in the Sandbox - Sharing the Surface Between Operators." She will discuss practical skills on negotiating surface provisions in solar and wind leases to co-locate with oil and gas activities. The presentation will include a short summary of the accommodation doctrine plus tips on negotiating surface waivers and accommodation agreements. A summary of the regulatory impact of surface activities will round out the presentation. REGISTER HERE!

Our speaker is Mr. Adam Landstrom of Recurrent Energy. Mr. Landstrom will be speaking on a landman's transition into the renewables, namely solar, sector and its rapid growth in the energy space.   REGISTER HERE! Adam Landstrom is the Head of North American Land Acquisition & GIS for Recurrent Energy.  A licensed attorney and experienced landman, Adam has worked in the energy industry for over 13 years.  Starting his career in oil & gas in the Bakken, Adam transitioned into renewable energy when he joined Recurrent Energy.  In his role, he leads his team in siting of large scale utility solar (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.  Adam lives in Austin, TX with his family and currently serves as a Trustee for the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law and Chairs the American Clean Powers’ Land Use Planning Committee.

Our speaker is Kyndall Leone of Leone Energy and JDUB Enterprises. Ms. Leone's presentation is titled, "Clear It Up, Buttercup: A Practical Discussion on Curative." Kyndall Leone is a triple-certified land pro who wears many hats - CPL, CDOA and CMM - but her favorite title might just be “resident title nerd.” As the only professional holding all three industry credentials, Kyndall brings a uniquely comprehensive perspective to mineral management and title resolution. November 2025 APLA Luncheon with the 2025-26 AAPL President

Our next in-person lunch meeting of the new APLA year will be our annual meeting with the President of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL). This is a great time to meet and connect with Kyle Reynolds, CPL, Founder of RPG Permian, LLC, and learn about how the AAPL is currently supporting land and the energy industry (you might even learn how Kyle believes the Razorbacks can beat UT at DKR!). Come and get some good barbecue at our favorite lunch spot and get to know your fellow landmen and land associates! Kyle Reynolds, CPL, is a managing member for RBG Permian LLC. He previously worked for Chesapeake Energy in Oklahoma City in the Permian, Eagle Ford and New Ventures groups as well as led a number of cross-functional steering committees. He then moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to lead Energen Resource Corp.’s business development team and served as manager over Permian and mineral assets. He also co-owns several companies: Benjamin Lee Bison, a direct-to-consumer meat business; Fair-Weather Friend, an Oklahoma City brewpub; and Greenway Capital Partners, a real estate investment firm. Reynolds holds a Bachelor of Arts in writing from the University of Central Arkansas and a J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, Permian Basin Landmen’s Association, Fort Smith Association of Professional Landmen and Urban Land Institute. Over the years he has served in many AAPL leadership roles, including first vice president in 2024-25, treasurer in 2020-21, Black Warrior Association of Professional Landmen director and chairman of the Marketing Committee, the Sustainability Taskforce, and  the Bylaws, Policy and Procedures Rewrite Taskforce. He also has served as a member of the Blankenship Student Awareness Initiative, Finance Committee, Investment Advisory Committee and NAPE Operators Committee. Reynolds and his wife, Amy, have three beautiful children: Lila, Anne Douglas and Hardin. He enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, and all things Razorbacks sports, including writing weekly articles for The Pig Sty. REGISTER HERE! Our speaker is Natalie Johns, Director - Alternative Energies & Infrastructure at Dudley Land Company. Ms. John's presentation is titled, "The New Energy Equation:  Land, Renewables and Data Center Demands." As the Director - Alternative Energies & Infrastructure at Dudley Land Company, Natalie leads the development and management of alternative energy projects (Utility Scale BESS, Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture Sequestration, and rare minerals such as Lithium) as well as Infrastructure projects for Utilities, Pipelines, and Data Centers nationwide helping deliver energy through land. With nearly two decades of experience in managing complex energy projects, Natalie has honed her talent for leading and de-risking projects, closing deals, and understanding complex surface and mineral title issues to help projects achieve insurability. Natalie is a former 40 Under 40 recipient and a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), multiple Texas APL Chapters, WRISE, CleanTech Leaders Roundtable, REAL Houston and CLEANTX. She is an adopted mother of two grown daughters, a grandmother, mentors young adults in her community, volunteers with Discovery Programs - Austin, and serves in her local Rotary Club and Lions Club.
